“Abu Ubaidah Soars!” follows the adventure of a young boy in the heart of Johannesburg as he sets out to find his mother’s lost wedding ring. With some gardening, a metal detector, a hidden treasure, and a bit of tinkering and experimenting, Abu Ubaidah has a soaring journey. Young readers will be inspired by the confident, hardworking and industrious nature of the protagonist of this story, and hopefully be motivated to set out on their own journeys of discovery.
‘Abu Ubaidah Soars!’ is suitable for paired reading for children from the age of two years old (just as long as your little one doesn’t tear the pages) up to independent reading for children aged 9 years. The original multimedia artworks have all been drawn, painted, embroided and worked-on by hand. This translates into the rich, intricate illustrations that you experience in the printed book, adding to the magic of the story.

Shanaaz Adam –
As a teacher and grandmother I was elated to have a book that I could use to engage with my grandkids… long enough to retain their attention! This a charming book that is easy to read with a hard cover that allows for comfort when reading out aloud while showing them pics. The font is large enough for them to read on their own. The storyline is simple and the words are easy enough to get the flow of the story. The introduction of new words is a plus. What I loved most was the vibrant illustrations which captivate in their attention to detail. The glossy pages just add to the beauty of the artwork. All in all a delightful experience. Looking forward to more.💫
